American Standard Design Award 2023: Multi-generation Bathroom

‘A Home to Love, a Space for Everyone’.

A home is where memories are made, laughter is shared and relationships are deepened. It is a shelter, a communal space that keeps us together and pushes us forward daily, both physically and emotionally. After all, a home is where the heart is.

This year, ASDA seeks to uncover the power of design, to create not only a bathroom where one can return to recharge and rejuvenate but a space that is truly loved by everyone in the family.

"Gap In Life"

A space full of affection, warmth and love. Parents and children can interact through bath time to promote parent-child relationship. In addition, the staff can wash away the fatigue of the day in this small space. The elderly can also experience the warmth of the elderly care space design.

The life of modern people is busy and exhausting. These small tender moments are like the gaps in our busy life, small but warm. The design concept of "Gap In Life" is to create a warm space in the gap of life, away from the busy modern lifestyle.

The basins of different heights are designed so that children can indepently without the help of adult. The design of two basins can also allow parents and children to wash up together to enhance parent-child relationship.

The benches are designed for the elderly or those with reduced mobility. Through this design, the elderly or disabled can feel the warmth given by their families and designers through the design.

The low-profile bathtub allows parents to monitor the child's bathing process at any time and accompany the child throughout the bath.

The floor of the rain shower space is a stone groove, which is high on all sides and low in the middle. It is fixed on the wooden board with glass glue, and the middle is covered with indepent anti-corrosion wood, which is non-slip and good for drainage.

The armrests are designed for the elderly or those with reduced mobility. Through this design, the elderly or disabled can feel the warmth given by their families and designers through the design.
